About Me

Although I was born in Canada and remain a Canadian citizen, I have now spent more than half of my life living and working in Japan. This is not how I envisioned my life unfolding when I was graduate student at the University of Toronto. But I came over to Japan on a two-year contract to teach at a university and when that contract finished, I saw there were many more opportunities for me here than there were in Canada and I found it exciting to be living in a place that made it easy to travel to other countries in Asia Pacific.

I moved from academic education into corporate education and spent most of my career in Japan as a corporate training director with both local and regional responsibilities. So my work and my interests have allowed me to visit most of the countries in the region.

Though I am officially retired, I continue to provide online training and consulting as I cannot seem to shake the habit of working.

I have no presence on social media and I probably would not have started this blog if the American people had not elected Trump as their president. The threat that he poses to both America and the rest of the world has made me want to join the resistance to the forces of ignorance and stupidity that he represents.
